Introduction to Nutrition Month

Think Before You Drink

This year's theme for Nutrition Month at the LBPSB is all about making better beverage choices!

Choosing what to drink is a big part of staying healthy. Canada's Food Guide reminds us to prioritize water as our beverage of choice, as many drinks, like sugar-sweetened beverages, contain added sugars without providing essential nutrients.

What are added sugars and sugar-sweetened beverages? How do they impact our bodies? And what can we drink instead? Explore this year's Nutrition Month resources to uncover the answers and kickstart your journey to smarter sipping!

There are 4 topics available to you for Nutrition Month!

1. Added Sugars and Sugar-Sweetened Beverages: Discover the world of carbohydrates and learn about the difference between natural sugars and added sugars.

2. Nutrition Facts Tables and Ingredient Lists: Learn how to read a nutrition label and spot added sugars in the ingredient list.

3. Think Before You Drink - Beverage Tracker Challenge: Complete the beverage tracker challenge during the month of March.
